Re: New DH-style reenactors' watches: Your suggestions needed.

I just received mine & it looks great! Really professionally presented and finished.
It even arrived set to the correct local time, a nice touch.
Well done!

Re: The definitive reproduction wickelgamaschen post

I have asked this question before, but how is the hook used? I was told that it hooks on to the boot laces, but the photo above makes me wonder about that.
Can anyone post any photos of the Gamaschen being fitted?
I'm keen to put the hooks on mine in the right position.

Re: NCO Whistle and Lanyard

I just bought a repro whistle from Ostfront.. $9.00...cheap!
The lanyard is another matter.
I intend to make my own, just as soon as I can learn how to do that particular braid.

Re: Dents in a feldflasche!

Yes, they are supposed to be curved inwards at the back. I have one that has apparently been treated to that kind of repair before I got it and it's REALLY hard to get it back to the correct shape.

Re: Dents in a feldflasche!

I have used a piece of dowel, just small enough diameter to fit through the top, rounded on the end, as a lever to gently coax dents out of a couple of feldflaschen.

Re: Gebirgsjager Puttees

I have bought the short Wickelgamaschen from an Ebay store "LeJour001". I just had a look and he has the long and short ones for sale at the moment. I think that they are from Sturm... I can make you the buckles, PM me for details. I think you are on your own for the hooks, unless I can ge...

Re: Coconut canteen straps needed

Vit Zemanek on Ebay has them from time to time, but at the risk of starting an argument :) , their use in Africa appears rather limited, rather a normal aluminium canteen, or even a 1 litre one, with wool cover / webbing strap and fittings.

Blousing trousers

I have seen a number of photos of DAK personnel with what appears to be trousers bloused in some way.
So - does anyone have any thoughts on how this was generally done?

Yes - I was in communication with Barry about what I was doing, so I guess he just "put one and one together".

DfhB parts

Hi all

Does anyone know a source for reproduction or original replacement rubber cups for the Dfh.B "Panzer" headphones?

Cheers

Re: a 222 chassis (replica)

In my opinion, the VW transmission is not the way to go, as it would mean that the engine would end up too low in the chassis.

Re: Tropical Mantel

Actually, I thought it was a bit too dark! It might be a screen resolution thing... Anyway, the only major issue I have with it now is the rear 1/2 belt, which is approx 5cm too long and 1cm too narrow. I'll unpick the side seams and reposition it later. http://i342.photobucket.com/albums/o419/Max_S...
