Re: 1:1 paper guns ????
Andy, surely there are enough repro guns around that you can buy. For the time, effort and frustration in making your own, you could get a second/first job, earn enough money to buy an existing repro and know that it works, is right, and is available. I've spent lots of time making stuff at about £1...

This is a superb modern hand-made Splinter pattern, fully reversible (to winter white) WWII German Army Parka with many original style features...

Re: Medic Banner/Flag
..or in the time honoured tradition of reenactment: get someone to sew a good quality white sheet into a square (leaving a tunnel for insertion of a pole), make a cardboard template of a cross correct for the size of the flag, draw round it lightly with a fine pencil, colour in with red fabric dye, ...

This chap appears to make the finest hand-tailored uniforms (not equipment), No experience of him but his blog looks impressive. Hope your French is up to communicating, though. Bonne chance!

Re: Boot question
It kinda looks like you never greased up your boots man. That happened to my boots when I didn't know that leather had to be supple :/ That was when I was a youngster though! :) However, my boots were from Hessen and they had a sole problem. I suggest you invest in Berger's low boots like many othe...
Re: Name
Perhaps stick with your initials, then if you need to mark any kit at least you know it's (probably) yours.

Re: Report Project Edelweiss IV - HeeresHochgebirgsschule 19
Absolutely the best reenactment photos that I've ever seen since starting reenactment over 20 years ago. You guys have the 'look' just like original photos. It's the stance, the equipment, the hair cuts, the uniforms, the 'look' of soldiers which non-soldiers have a hard time replicating. The photog...

surprisingly little of the toe curling comments that usually follow a story like this.
Sadly, shows the level of basic ignorance, even in so-called 'educated' journalists. And the editor didn't pick it up either.

Re: Oh my god, my collar is obnoxious.
Perhaps this is because the cotton thread has shrunk. Bit tricky, but they could be un-picked and re-sewn, if you are not confident, then go to a seamstress, tailor, repair shop, dress maker, or even a military tailor, etc. They will just think it's fancy dress and not report you to the Police.

Re: Original/repro WW2 German records.
If your local 'Recycling centre' (Tip) is anything like mine, they are keen to recycle and sell most things. Mine usually has a pile of 78s amongst which might just occasionally be something period and French/German. Usually about 25/50p as well, but of course, mostly heavy operatic.
