A new focus for the UK airoft scene
Appreciating that many people don't like forums, specifically irritated by forums aligned with a single group, the WW2 airsoft forum is now independent of any group and acts as a central hub of the community. Along with this there is a new website and associated Facebook page. All designed to spread...

Re: Staying in character?
Sadly, not. 'Look, don't touch' seemed to be a safer option. There, you've gone and sent the thread off on a tangent. Heh, back on topic, I don't think I have been to any show and heard chit chat and general conversation from display participants - that would be awesome to eavesdrop on as a MoP. It ...

Re: Staying in character?
I...Tom Cruise didnt feel any need to adopt an accent in Valkaryie and he was getting paid  Exactly! Occasionally, a MoP stood chatting at the rope would say, in jest, "Well, you don't sound very German" to which my jocular reply could be either "Madam, it's just that you under...

Re: Serious Question - What is the purpose of Reenactment?
The purpose of re-enactment is to replay history, to bring the life and times of the past alive. WW2 re-enactment takes four forms: public shows, public battles, private battles and school/museum education. Public shows are run all over the country and may be themed on a single period or be multi-pe...

Continental name for a slide
dia·posi·tive (dī′ə päz′ə tiv)
noun
a positive photographic image on a transparent material, as a photographic slide or lantern slide
What people these days call 'old fashioned slides' - yet I still produce thousands of them every year!

Comrades in Arms awarded "Game of the Year"
http://www.ai-mag.com/images/awards/awards_2010.gif Comrades in Arms are delighted to accept an award given by Airsoft International magazine. The 'Industry 2010' awards, just announced, gave Comrades in Arms the "WW2 Game of the Year" award for their 2010 events. The CiA team express the...

When I reach the top I'll have to stop,
And that's what's been troubling me-e-e-.
So, oobe-doo....

Deputy Reichsführer (pending April 2011)

Re: The Great SS Debate.....
In my honest opinion, the organisations (such as LHA & NaRes) and shows (such as COAM) actively banning W-SS do so out of preference not lack of knowledge. I agree with you that a dialogue with them to try and establish exactly why they impose this ban would be benificial, but ultimately its th...

Re: The Great SS Debate.....
But at this point I will say that the organisation I belong to has no mandate. Ah, a perfectly valid point. Perhaps a 'campaigning' mandate can be discussed at the next AGM? Any argument/persuasion has to come from an organisation to have any weight, a few bods grumbling on a forum is neither here ...

Re: The Great SS Debate.....
Am I the only one baffled by the some of the past seven pages of pontificating? The questions asked by Paul were: Do Waffen SS reenactors not help their own cause? Is the image of Waffen SS reenactors such that they do not present a public friendly image? Is there something more that could be done b...

Re: AFRA
Just a quick pointer to something that threw me: When you click on 'Renew' you must complete all the boxes and tick boxes that are in red else you will be nagged until you do, else you won't be able to tick the green tick to submit. Fair enough. If you want to pay by cheque the details will be on th...

Re: Derbyshires Number 1 Living History Event!!
The 16th SS had a great time. Much has been covered before on what could be done better - advertising (to both to the public and to reenactors) and information dissemination (web site, email, telecoms prior to event). We would have liked to have seen a PA system to let the public know what was going...

Operation Jedburgh - 10/11th July 2010
This is a 24hr private battle organised by Comrades in Arms being played out in a 700 acre forest in Wales. 10th July 1944 Having taken a pounding in the battles around Caen and the D-Day Beachheads, mixed elements of SS Panzer and Heer troops are taking a well earned weekend rest to refit and re-ar...
