Hi all, im Steve, i've always thought i'd like to get into some sort of re-enacting one day, I went to Detling for the first time in the summer and figure now's the time. I always figured I would do Vietnam, German ww2 or some sort of British, either modern or Northern Ireland. Well, after seeing the German area at Detling, I thought they looked the bollocks, the vehicles, the weapons, the haircuts, the SS camo, great stuff. As a kid I remember I loved the German uniforms etc but felt I wasnt 'allowed' to, so now im learning lots about them, reading books etc and enjoying it, I like the idea of representing the average German soldier, pushed into battle for the Nazi party, but I also like the elite of the SS and of course, their uniforms and insignia. At Detling it wasn't until the next day I realised I couldn't stop thinking about it all, and soon after I sent a message to 2nd Battle Group about joining up, and am awaiting a reply. Im a signwriter (handpainted stuff) so if anyone knows any good sites with examples of period signage please let me know, i'd like to make some soon. Well, that was a bit long, cheers gents.
