Hi,
My reall name is Nigel. I was considering the user name A.P.Fokker, but thought it might offend someone. Oh well Ernst Frei it is. Iowe a debt of gratitude to Reinhard, and Walther and others for pointing me in the right direction with regards to kit.
By way of re-payment how many people have read the following books:-Edged weapons of Hitlers Germany, Third Reich Militaria, Detecting the Fakes-all these titles are by Robin Lumsden.Also:Badges and Insignia of the third Reich 1933-45, by Brian L. Davis. Heaven and Hell, by Martin Poppel, last but by no measns least: The German Soldier in World War2, by Dr S.Hart, DrR.Hart and Dr M Hughes.
The last book is a must read for any re-enactor, as is Heaven and Hell-A personal account of a member of the Paras, from training, Narvik, Crete, to P.oW. in England......good book.
Hope to see some of you in the new year !!!!

I've read all the books apart from the Edged weapons. Heaven and Hell is a good read.

Watch the books by Lumsden - they are notoriously inaccurate!

Thanks for the advise about Lumsden. I guess thats the benefit of being part of a group like G.D. Ive always thought his books were OK, but I suppose it does beg the question,Compared to what?
Well, after chrimbo, I should be able to start buying kit.It might sound a bit obvious, but what would you suggest I bought first. I already have a Sthalhelm M42, but it has SS runes, and a mobile Swastika on it.
