New recruit Part II

Post by Pat »

Good morning,
I suupose I had better introduce myself. My name is Pat (Paddy) I'm the tall chap with the beard at Malvern with Lyndon (Gunther) the other the weekend.
After much ear bending and arm twisting Lyndon has got me to join GD. I am interested in the period and would like to learn more about the German side of WWII, and so felt the best way was to join GD. One of the main reasons for wanting to join was the quality of the kit and equipment that you guys have and use, I am a member of Regia Anglorum (Early Medieval Society 950-1066AD, and currently hold the position of National Military Training Officer. Meaning I am responsible for all of the combat training within the society. I have been a re-enactor for the best part of twenty years now yes I really should get out more) :( and Regia has a repution for authenticity and getting it right. And from what I have seen so do you. I look forward to the coming season with great interest and a rapidly emptying wallet. I'll end this post for know but I'm sure there will be plenty of questions I need to ask, and if you have any for me please feel free.

Cheers,
Pat

Blimey, raining officer, MAA and authenticity. That's a good hand in poker  , I'm never playing cards with you  Yep the Germanic Warrior 450AD - 1945AD, this could get very confusing at Detling. Still it could frighten the enemy

Cheers,
Pat

Oh bless 'im! I was in his Bristol group for more years than I care to remember until I left in '97. He had a mass exodus of members that year (about 28 or so). I wasn't on his Christmas list since I was instrumental in forming Conquest in 1994!

In the early days of Regia/Wessex in the late 80s and early 90s we could easily get 120+ people up on Bristol Downs on a Sunday afternoon for a training session. Ah, I remember when... etc.

Going back on topic slightly, what is Kim's issue over German Re-enactors then? Its it koz we're all Natzees?!

Never had any problems from Kim about Germans. I know he likes the vehicles. He even enjoyed doing the commentary at Detling.

Dip two fingers in your beer and draw a couple of lightining bolts on the table in front of him....

There used to be a ruling that spears of 9 feet in length used to have to carry a small flag (called a gonfannon) - A group of us used to have black ones with white lightning stikes on it... got away with it at several major events.

My shield also looked like an EK2 ribbon!

I remember seeing someone with an interesting cross design on a red shield when I first joined Regia in 1988. It didn't last long.
