Amateur video: Wehrmacht training

Post by rednas »

A amateur movie from a German soldier in the Landesschützen-Bataillon 278, based in Bussum (the Netherlands) showing all aspects from their training. Very interesting to see is how casual everything is going, far from the propaganda we are used to see. Might also come that the Landesschützen were more second rate soldiers. The units were filled with mostly older men not able to fight in the frontline...well...untill the frontline came to them.

Though still a great source which shows a unique view of the life of a ww2 soldier. The music wasn't originally with the video, I added that because it was without sound. Make sure to view it on the highest resolution (480px).

They look eerily like modern-day reenactors!! (But not your group though! ) Must be the age...

Interesting to see one landser shooting his K98 left handed - I was under the impression that even lefthanded people had to learn to shoot 'righthanded?)

Nice find anyway...

I like the shot of all the old boys with their Great War EK2 ribbons patiently listening to lessons on how to be a soldier.

Ooh, you can see german soldiers with their hands in their pockets! :P

War had changed quite a bit from the old ways of WW1, so I guess they knew they'd better listen :D
