At last weekends Victory Show, I put together a rather hasty SS Sani impression.... but thoroughly enjoyed it in the battle and wish to further this.
So, I made the red cross band for the stahlhelm and armband, got a pair of medic pouches and wore the usual enlisted mans kit. Now, theres not much on internet about SS Sanis and only one English language book available.
Question is, would they have had the medic patch on the sleeve of a DOT 44 tunic? Ive found one pic of a medic in full DOT uniform, but cant make this out.
I also have an early war tornister, without the hair/fur.... could I use that with a redcross on it or is that wrong for late war?
Ta.

I'm pretty sure they didn't wear the badge on camo, unless there's a camo version of the sani badge I haven't seen.
As far as tournisters, they were more of an early war item, but that dosent mean there were not some sanis using them still. I'd say by late war it wasn't the norm at least. You can fit alot of gear in one.

Re: W-SS Sani impression
For late war krankenträger or sani impression I find that the ammobox for the mg42 is very useful. Just fit it with a bread bad strap and paint a red cross on it. That would look very nice! I got an Affe backpack as well wich works fine but I'll rather use my mg box
And medic patch on camo is no go I wiould say.

Re: W-SS Sani impression
In one ref book i saw an odd mix of kit,
there was an SS medic wearing pea-dot
trousers, a white painted helmet with red
cross and what looked like an early type white
or light grey fatigue jacket, a strange combo
but in the pic it looked quite effective tbh, obviously
this must've been taken behind the front lines at
some sort of first aid station
