Field phones
We want to get two of our field phones working,is anyone up to maybe advising us or posting a tutorial on doing this?
Going rate is between £30 and 50 depending on condition. There is no guarantee they will work until you try them. The 3 main things which don't always work are the earpiece, microphone and ringer circuit.
You can make them work by placing a D cell in the circuit. The ringer is powered off a dynamo (DON'T touch the terminals when cranking!). For cable, oridinary DON-10 will suffice.

you can wire one phone to another with DON-10 cable and they'll work. You only need exchanges if you want to use more than 2 phones and connect A-B, A-C, C-B etc.
You can also use them with only 1 cable, and the other attached to earth (thus using the ground as a phantom earth connection) - it does work OK, but the signal can be weak sometimes as it depends on the conductivity of the ground itself.
