Fu 11 SE 100 restored

Post by Feldjager »

Almost got this finished today - the batteries still need their final coat of red oxide (this is too bright - it's vehicle cellulose primer) and markings.

From left to right -
- Torn Eb receiver and accessory box
- 100 watt sender
- U100a dynamotor unit (takes 12V input and generates 12V at 7.3A and 1000V at 0.24A) for the sender unit
- 2 12NC28 batteries (12 volt, nickel cadmium cells, 28 amp)

It's now all fully operating and sends and receives perfectly. The complete configuration is Fu11SE100 (funkgerät 11 sender/empfänger 100 watt). There is a KwEa (Kurzwellenempfänger 'a') receiver being restored at the moment, though I'm missing a few parts.

That Dave, is marvellous.
Are there any other operational units?

Wouldn't it be great to have them at opposite ends of a large field and actually send and recieve messages? (thinks....  )

It would be superb - we'd need to double check the frequencies are still legal to be used by amateurs though. There is also the H&S issue over voltages and the radiation off the antenna, so it might be more suited to private events.

Wouldn't you also need HAM licence to use this radio as well? My brother is into HAM radios I'll check with him what frequencies are prohibited for civilian use. If tuned to the CB frequency range here in Canada there are no licences required. Here in Canada, not sure with the rest of the world you no longer need to do the morse code test to obtain a HAM licence but still are required to pass the Ham operators test

I have an amateur radio licence - I got it when I was in the scouts years ago.

Hi all,

Thanks for the kind comments - some of it is a bit 'anoraky' but it keeps me off the streets.

Les - happy to help if I can. I'm not that good with electronics, and I had all the high voltage bits tested by someone other than a monkey with a multimeter!
