Post by johankreig »

Can someone confirm which two types of SOlbuch I need for my impression, I think its a Police one (not that I cant find one that looks decent) and an army one, could I get confirmation on this and does anyone know of a good source for these.

A few factors apply. Branch of service or If you have been recruited from Polizei. But basically your branch of service Book will be altered.

Also depending on what theatre of War you were situated in you may have been issued with a second False book as FG were often prized prisoners with a bounty on their head. Any other infomation would be welcome as I also re-enact a FG.

For feldgendarmerie, you'd have a Heer one. The Polizei soldbucher where in use when the Polizei were moved, en masse, to the FG but by late 1939/early1940 they were withdrawn and the Heer book was used.

The tarnsoldbuch (fake version) was factually correct but gave the bearers unit, normally as a rear line unit. I've seen a few and supply units were common. The bearer would have a card insert which gave the real details and the reason for the false documents. In the event of capture, the card could be disposed of.

I've seen instances where 2 were issued, but the tarnsoldbuch with insert was more common.

who is the best source for these then, I have tried searching the usual suspects but they all look like they use the same supplier, either that or the same or similar photos.

I know somneone who got some nice ones from the stares, however he dosnt have any idea who it was as it was years ago, the mass produced ones look like note books someone has printed the stuff onto using a crappy laser jet.

I'm also putting together a FG impression at the moment. I recently bought this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/170981996389?_t ... EBIDX%3AIT

It's still in transit from Australia. I've purchased documents from Firebasenam and they've been pretty good quality.

That's based on a Polizei ID document. You need a Heer or SS Soldbuch, accordingly.
