I'll get the last 2 requests sorted later this week. The files are all boxed up whilst I decorate my office.

Not meaning to be [too much of] a pest, but have you been able to dig the info out of the chaos yet?

Thanks,

I recently added an article all about the Soldbuch which was written by one of our members to our website.

A list of Gau Numbers and a load of other info can be found here:

http://www.gdrecon.co.uk/soldbuch2.html

Hopefully it will be of some use?

Feldjager wrote:I have had a lot of requests for police precinct numbers from people doing their soldbuch. Rather than keep them all to PM as some have been duplicates, can I ask that they are posted here so everyone can refer to them. I don't have a complete list, but I can do all of Austria and most of Germany. These can be fairly straightforward, or they can be a bit of an audit - if they get too complicated, you might have to revise your details a little.

A Wehrnummer number has 5 elements to it:
1. the name of the Wehrbezirkskommando - for this I need the Wehrkreis in which you were theoretically recruited
2. The last 2 digits of your theoretical date of Birth
3. The number of the military registration police precinct - for this I need the town in which you wish to have been living in whilst recruited, and the nearest major town/city within about 50km - I suggest using Google maps (http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&tab=wl) to research this.
4. Serial number of the Wehrstammrollenblatt - pick a number between 1 and 500
5. Line number on the Wehrstammrollenblatt - pick a number between 1 and 10

If this thread is still open and helping people, I have worked up my Wehrnummer as:
Limburg/Lahn 91/*/15/8

My Impression is living in Weilburg/Lahn or Mengerskirchen(/Winkels) at the time of his registration, so would fall into Wehrkrise XII and register at Limburg/Lahn. He was born in 1891. The last two numbers I understand can pretty much be pulled out of whole cloth, so I chose 8 and 15 after the movie 08/15, but since the last number can only go to 10 reversed them. It's the Police Precinct that has be perplexed. If I can't get any help I was thinking of just going with a 1.

Appreciate any help I can get.
