The Hürtgen Forest

Post by Hogeback »

Hallo Friends,

I am back again after my summer vacation at home. During July I go once again to see the grave of my Mothers uncle Johannes who was killed in the Hürtgen forest. I also walk along the Kall to Schmidt - very hot!!

I would like to ask if any of you have been to this place or know about the fightings there?

Erm...... Yes!!!!
Is your Mutti's Uncle laid to rest in the Ehrenhof In Vossenach or Hürtgen?
I have visited several times and walked the battlefields, The Wilde Sau and the Kall Trail. The museum at Vossenach is very good and the veterans I have spoken to are a great source of information.

Our group represents parts of the 116 Windhund and so we concentrate our interest in that area......

He lays in the grave at Vossenack. He died in January 1945. This was a very bad time for the family because also his brother died a few days later in Hungary. I do not know where he is.

The Windhund was a good Army unit.

MFG,
