Der Windhund are organising a trip to the battlefields of the Hürtgen. This will be a long weekend (Fri - Mon) and will be based in the Catherdal city of Aachen. We intend to visit the Two Cemeteries at Vossenack as well as the Kall Trail and the Hurtgenwald Museum which contains many battlefield finds and interesting maps etc. (It also has some Roman and Prehistoric artefacts int here too)

I think it is good for a group to actually get away from the "re-enactment" scene now and again and go on a "mission" as gang of mates...... Musuem trips in the UK are another good idea. Organise a charabang to the IWM or Bovington. Duxford is worth a visit if only for Wheatcroft's armour and Underwood's unfiroms!

Shows year in and year out can make one go stale... There is lots more to do than dressing up and standing ina muddy field - GET OUT THERE AND DO IT!

I for one would be interested in this. Plenty of advance notice, time to sort it out, save etc and not a long period to abandon the family for.

Worth thinking about.

I fully encourage this sort of activity, we in Fjr2 are attending a Fallschirmjager Bundestreffen in Baveria next June so that we can socialise with the alte Kammeraden.

Living not too far away from Aachen, I am more than interested in this project! So I will keep an eye on this spot and get myself acquainted with the subject. If any help is required with sorting out accomodation etc., let me know!

Liebe Grüße,
Beate
