What a small world we live in

Post by Jager Roll »

This is kind of interesting that I thought I would share with you all. The whole Pacific thing got me reinterested in doing a bit more research about the Unit my great Uncle (Richard Brodnicki)had served in (he was killed while serving with the Fourth Marine Division on the Tinian Islands in 1944).
Well through the National Archives I was able to find his exact unit Which was A Co. 1st. Btln, 24th Marines, 4th Marine Division. I typed the unit number into google and found a website done by a Veteran of the very same company My Uncle was in!!

I took a chance and called him this evening (his number is in his website. He was actually friends with my Great Uncle and was the first one to find him dead in his foxhole. He even wrote about the experience and mentions my Uncle by name (Read about his combat experience on Tinian at this link).

The Gentleman (AL Perry) still lives in Clearwater and would like to come to the next Desoto reenactment event. As a former Marine this was definitely very special.
