Japanese Infantry weapons

Post by Hirate Sakimori »

Hi does anyone know a good supplier for Japanese world war two infantry weapons, either Deactivated or even airsoft/airgun type weapons in the UK.

So far I and some of my fellow enthusiasts have had to adapt and convert weapons from other nations to fit the Japanese troop kits. Simply because I cannot source many good repro weapons here in the UK.

Price of genuine world war 2 deacts are a lot more than their counterparts for other nations. I think I seen an Arisaka on Gunstar for over £800 where the average price of Mosin Nagants was £250 and about £500 for a decent Enfield.

Also I understand that many Arisaka rifles went Stateside because they were popular with sports shooters sadly the market in UK is very very small... and therefore hideously expensive. Even Repro- Airsoft rifles like KW Type 38 sell for £1500 which is a huge sum of money.

The following weapons are good subsitutes though which might be somewhat cheaper to adapt. I have found these work well and while not exactly historically 100% accurate they are still a decent substitute.

You can use Mauser K98 and Mosin Nagant 1944 models of Bolt action rifle produced by firms like AG and Umarex for Airsoft market. These can be adapted to imitate Arisaka type 99 rifles. I still don't know how best to substitute a Type 38 so any ideas for this are most welcome. Many Japanese units got themselves captured British Enfields during the Burma campaign so these can work well for that.

Luger P08 replicas can be converted to imitate the Nambu type 14. Especially the non blowback model airguns made by Gletcher and Umarex. The Blowback versions are harder to convert.

If you can find Crossman p38 replica airguns these can also be converted well because there are also non blowback. Some Japanese officers did indeed use German P38s and the other popular handgun for Japanese officers was the Smith Wesson .32 bore which is more common in the UK both as replica and as airgun.

I know many will say that the following is not very historically accurate but this is the best substitute we can think of because in UK it is very hard to obtain actually Japanese equipment. If any members here in the UK or abroad can help with expanding the list of Japanese infantry weapons and subsitutes I would be most grateful Thanks.

It seems that Japanese rifles are extremely expensive - Battleflag Militaria have some , but they are £800+ :o

how much do you want to pay for a deactivated arisaka rifle? I agree that 800+ is a joke, i was selling them for about 400-500 when i was dealing in them, if your serious i can probaly get my hands on one for you.

I wouldn't bother trying to convert something else, they never look great and let down an impression in my eyes.

 PORN!!!!!!! ^^^^^^ DROOOLS

Yes Please Tanaka San I'll drop you a PM about it. I have a Nambu 14 replica and most of the gear for IJA 35th Army Captain, even have the Shin Gunto to with it... but I have always wanted the Arisaka rifle too. I have the Bayonet.

I know back home I could be officer easy because my friends were my troopers but in UK I'm alone so will need the rifle to complete any display. For now I skirmish sometimes/airsoft with a K98... because the Tanaka Works and KWC replica Arisaka rifles in Airsoft versions are hideously expensive in Japan I had some Hudsons and Tokyo Ehon guns but the prices for guns in UK are hideous. I have never seen an Arisaka rifle in the whole of my 8 years of living in the UK... not one... oh wait there was this resin replica in a shop in Evesham... but that was it... I am envious that you have this many
