no not really, the Japanese firmly based there tactics around the riflemen, due to the lack of a really effective machine gun and the fact there was never really enough to go round

Would a type 92 & tripod weigh more than a MG42 on a sustained fire mount?
yeah it does, its a 4 man operation to carry the type 92 and tripod

later on in the war yes, they would have been used in strong defensive points but during the early war such as the push through Burma and malaya or in China they were very much a mobile weapon.

actually its 2 bars for the front and a U shaped metal bar which plugs into a lug on the back foot of the tripodjdeleur wrote:It also had four removable bars to carry the thing.
