Of the 38 Waffen SS divisions only 6 were Gebirgsjäger and they were the 6th SS Nord,7th Prinz Eugen,13th Handschar,21st skanderberg 23rd Kama and the 24th Karstjäger . The SS school for Gebirgsjäger was set up on the 15th september 1942 at Neustift in the Stubai vally in Austrian Tyrol and was commanded by SS-Standartenführer Eberhard von Quirsfeld
Six specialist courses were run at the school and they focused on the following
Officer training
N.C.O training
Assault pioneer and combat engineering training
Communication training (radio and Telephone)
Medical training
Supply training
with the SS expanding and the addition of more SS Gebirgs troops to the list the school had three further centers addeded to it in 1944. Group III Marksmanship training IV Officer instruction . Group II was the largest addition with a mountain warfare school at Predazzo in the Fleims Valley part of the disputed Austrian south tyrol the (Alto Adige region if your Italian)

1943 and the and the Italian surrender training personnel were used to disarm Italian troops near the Reschen pass and secure their weapons and equipment ,the school was also called upon to deal with the growing Italian partisan threat from the Tonale pass in the north and as far south as the shores of Lake Como .
Toward the end of the war like other training establishments it was formed in to a Kampfgruppe to stem the tide of advancing allied armys after seeing little action the school kampfgruppe surrenderd to the Americans on the 3 May 1945 at Neustift
