Hi,

My grand uncle served in the 169 ID, 378 Regiment, 8th Kompanie in Finland and was captured on September 11th 1944 28 km north of Alakurtti.
He was then being transported to Camp / Lager 157/3 at Pikaljowo near Boksitogorsk where he starved on May 7th 1945.

Does anyone have info about the 169 ID or even 378 Regiment during their time in Finland?

best
Matthias

Very interesting, my grandfather fought in the 7. RajaJP (7th borderjäger batallion) pretty close to that area :)

I have found the attached map on http://www.library.by/portalus/modules/ ... /kobec.htm which looks pretty interesting.
As well, there seems to be detailed descriptions of the situation in the book "Der finnische Krieg 1941-1944", Limes Verlag Wiesbaden, 1950. W. Erfurth, S.302 ff. (http://www.forum-der-wehrmacht.de/threa ... stid=81294), which I just ordered.

Unfortunately, there seems to be not more info available. Maybe that is also interesting for you.

best
