SS Gebirgjaeger Regiment 12 Michael Gaissmair

This regiments roots go back to 12th September 1939 when it was formed in Bruenn Bohemia as SS-Totenkopf Standarte 7.On the 27th April 1940 it was moved to Drammen ,southern Norway .The 25th of February 1940 the unit turned in its Totenkopf coller patches and replace them with normall SS ones at the same time the units name was changed to SS-Infanterie Rgt 7 this was not the last name cange this unit was to have as on the 22nd October 1943 it was renumberd/renaned SS-Gebirjaeger Rgt 12.It did not get its name untill the 21st June 1944 and that was in a simple ceremony were the divisonal commander ,SS-Obergruppenfuerhrer Friedrich-Wilhelm Krueger handed the first Michael Gaissmair cuff title to the regimental commander SS-Standartenfuhrer Franz Schreiber

Interesting fact though, is that while strangely the 6. SS-Gerbigs Division 'Nord' did not have a cuff-title like the other premier Waffen-SS divisions, 2 of it's regiments within the division, Michael Gassmair, mentioned here, and Reinhard Heydrich, had cuff-titles.

The NORD cuff title was issued to the Allgemeine SS Oberabchnitt NORD some members of this unit retained the cuff title when they were transferred from the Allgemeine SS to waffen this was not standard
