4th Waffen SS Division Polizei

Hi there
looking to find out if there would be a problem in portraying this division.
It's already portrayed by the re-enactors in St Petersburg. But would there be any good reason why there would be a problem portraying this division in the UK and Ireland.

I know there is a problem with Totenkopf because of their connection to the camps, but what about the Politzei, have they a reputation that would or should cause re-enactors to keep clear. Or are they simply the military wing of the German police force?

And has had no problems as of yet, he has had more praise over it, he wears the ealry russia look in having, heer litzen, with SS sleeve eagle boards and rank.
He believes it is a good unit to portray, and it gets you away with anyone moaning at you about the runes
His next portrayal will be feldjager, oberkomado wehrmact

After the trip to St Petersburg last year our group here in Ireland http://www.rkka49th.com are interested in portraying a Red Army unit from the seige 41-43.

We have a lad who normally does Leibstandarte who would be interested in portraying a soldier from this division, however he was concerned in case that had a bad reputation. I will direct him to this thread.

Dave, is it easy enough to get the police badges, colar tabs? I suppose we could always get them from the Russian lads.

I actually meant I do Feldjägerkorps, not 4. Polizei! I do an Ordungspolizei combat impression from time to time...

As this unit operated in the East for most of WWII, they are not as well know as other SS units are, to the general public.
Alan Clark in his book 'Barbarossa' refers to the 4th SS Polizei Divison as 'one of the most sinister SS units'.
They operated in the anti-partisan role on Greece & the Balkans from Jan-Dec 1944, and unusually, were specifically condemned by the Red Cross for their actions in the village of Distrimo in Greece during an anti-partisan sweep in the area.
The division positioned itself to surrender to the Americans as the war ground to a close in May 1945.
