Correct Collar Tabs

Post by holz21pz »

In putting together my FG impression, I've come to the collar tabs and have question. I've seen two different types. One has all 3 stripes being orange and another type that is the more standard with a green strip down the center and two orange stripes on the sides. I thought I read something somewhere about the all orange being some sort of "recruiter" waffenfarbe. Does that sound right at all?? I just need to know what the standard litzen type is.

Thanks,
Marcus

3 orange stripes - Gendarmerie only (they were used on the Polizei combat uniforms). Not used by the Feldgendarmerie when in correct army dress.

2 orange stripes - early branch specific type. The generic (either type) are equally as correct to use, particularly late war.

Thanks Dave. I'm glad I held off on buying the tabs.

Sorry to necropost  but are there any vendors reproducing this litzen?

Yes, plenty - most dealers of repro items carry them.

Unfortunately, I've only seen the litzen with three orange stripes, not the litzen with two. I suppose, with most of our events being '44 and later, I could just go with generic. I was just going for a more alte hase look. Thanks, though!

For a late war impression, generic are equally as correct as branch specific, if not more so.

If you are looking for an early war impression - Try Richard A. Underwood. He recently did a very nice FG M36 pattern feldbluse for me and the litzen was very good, two orange stripes, mounted on dark green badge cloth. He's usually got these in stock.
