Time Period

Post by dutch2770 »

When did FGs stop wearing the sleeve eagle and cuff title ? Would they be used on the M43 tunic or not so much? I havent seen to many pictures of FGs wearing the M43, just curious. Thanks

SS-Feldgendarmerie.
The cuff title was introduced from 01AUG1942 and was supposed to replace the brown Heer style version. Abolished with effect from 15NOV1944 and the police eagle was to be replaced with the SS arm eagle (SS-Feldgendarmen didn't wear the sleeve eagle, only the police eagle - plenty of photo show this clearly). There was also an order issued in August 1943 which forbade the wearing of a second cuff title with the SS-Feldgendarmerie one, including Divisional titles (only the LAH were permitted to ignore this order).

Heer Feldgendarmerie
The police sleeve eagle was abolished with effect from 10MAR1944, this seems largely to have been ignored from examination of original photos (including post war ones where the Fg are still operation under Allied command). The cuff title was abolished in November 1942, but again this seems largely to have been ignored except on the Eastern Front.
