It's interesting also for me. Btw, is platanetarn 1/2 suitable only for the beginning of the war?

that is an M42 planetree over printed on oakleaf smock not planetree!

so no it would not be ok for early war only after 1942

Richard Underwood has these and they are direct copies of smw smocks and are a good cheaper option and are acceptable in the SBG

The print looks quite good, as said the first one is oakleaf overprint
and the second appears to be blurred camo, just one point, the skirt
section appears to be a bit on the short side imho but will look ok
when rolled up...not too bad overall, are these made in Asia ??

Jooooonas,

The plane tree patterns were used through the entire war. This smock is the 1/2 overprint version. The overprints started to be used in 1941 according to Beaver, but, as stated by ssparatrooper, this smock is the m42 model, so that does limit you to mid/late war.

It's still not SMW, IMO, but they are getting close. It's still better than the ones with the numbers repeating every two feet.

Just noticed the second smock appears to be a type-1
with vents rather than the skirt pockets, surely the
blurred print came out later (mid-War) so a type-2
(with pockets) would be more correct ??

All the roller prints (Oak A, B and BE) started in 1941. So a Type 1/ m40 smock in BE would have been produced.. There is an original m40 BE smock in the Beaver book. Remember, just because a new model of something was implemented, doesn't mean every manufacturer switched to it. The fully hand screened plane tree was produced late into the war, even though they had introduced the overprint in '41.
