liberation army pics, with eagles...

Post by abc123 »

Comrades! Hope you can help a bit here. Or should it be heer (oh I crack myself up)...

Have a look at these pics from the book between 2 fires. They are from the US archives. But a few questions.

The first pic...

1)Is that HBT the Osties are wearing?

2)Where are their shoulder boards? Was it normal for Axis POW types to have them removed?

3) They don't have replacement breast devices (clearly). Kirby and me have got a load of evidence that shows with and without. What do you all think?

So here is the 1st pic.

The 2nd pic is quite interesting (yeah yeah, stop yawning)...

1) Are some of them wearing the Italian Bustina, or is it the old style field cap?

2) Arm shields on the right sleeve? I thought the Wehrmacht only had tehm on the left?

3) Are these shield on greatcoats?

If any of you have ever seen any regs about armsheilds etc, or have any thoughts on this we'd really appreciate it. We've some original items that don't match anything we've seen photograph wise, but we're really just scratching about on the surface.

cheers, Toddy

p.s. don't slap my legs. I'm 38 years old.
"hello is that customer services? This rifle is giving me manic depression. What you gonna do about it"?
