Estonia Volunteer Legion & other units

Post by Reich Crispies »

A collegues relative (on his wifes side) served in the Estonian WSS.
This only came to light after his death.
Is there a efficient way of tracking this guys service record?
We dont have much prior to his capture but lots of documentation following this.

Any help appreciated

It's going to be a long slog I'm afraid, the Germans are very cagey about giving away any details, the Estonians are more than likely to be the same in any regard towards the black bands.
If the person was in the Estonian military beforehand though? It could be worth looking into.

If you have his name, you could do a Check in Berlin. Due to the fact they have many documnets left, I have a friend who has been getting alot of copys from Berlin. Try that, and also try in Estiona, with the goverment and see if they have any documents left. It can be done!
