Hello,
Did the Italians make Helmet covers not only for the Germans but to fit the German helmets? Oh, and where they the draw string type?

Thanks,

Joe

On the question of mass production of Helmet covers the answer is no. The only helmet covers made in large numbers were those for the M42 paratroop helmet, and these were produced in 1942, mainly for the Folgore division. Para's of the Nembo also recieved covers, and from 1943, these were distruputed to the RSI para formations. Covers for the M33 helmet were manufactured, but not in large numbers. Italian troops were issued helmet nets, but even these are few and far between in photo's. Like the German troops, many covers were simple field adaptions.
