Mortar 81mm Mod.35

Post by missyd »

I am building a 81mm Mortar at home in my kitchen. I have some machines but most of them are a little bit too small to build it. Neverless I managed to finish the tube in aluminium. 2 pics of it ...

Looking good so far Daneila. Keep us posted!

Have you ever looked into the Portugese ones? These were Italian made, but for the Portugese Army.

I can't buy or own a mortar in Switzerland ... its a big NO-NO from authorities. Thats why I am building it myself out of aluminium. No problems with authorities ....

In that respect, we're better off in the UK. As long as its deactivated, not a problem.

You'll have to make a little 'how to make' work sheet, for those budding Mortar builders out there. Could be a hell of a reference!

aaah .... a 'how to build a mortar' would be nice. The only problem I do not work with a plan. I have the main measurements and sometimes I use some raw drawing (mostly not) ...

Its some sort of buy some scrap aluminium and drill/turn nice pieces out of it.
Nothing special or difficult if you're not born with two left hands ...

OK I may write some rough 'how to' at the end.

Yes please send me some pictures! It would help me a lot. Maybe also one from the underside of the baseplate too.
Thanks a lot in advance!

No problem ... I'll need some other 2-3 months to finish this replica .... baseplate and tube where easy to fabricate ... now comes the most difficult parts. :?

Very impressed, i saw some replica ones at W&P last year that where nothing more than painted MDF, and they where asking a fortune for them. Your project looks great, more photos please.
Once you have finished i would flog the template to finance your project.

Thank you guys!

Templates? Do you think I made some sort of drawing? Wrong. The wooden parts maybe I drew on a piece of cardbox before. All other where made just we some basic measurements. I'm no fan of drawings!
