The pictures may not be as early as you might think Tom. The two tanks are both British. Although they could be pre-Dunkirk I would think the probability is that they were taken post-Dunkirk. Could it have been training for operation Sea-Lion? An introductory lecture on 'enemy' armour they might come across during the invasion and then utilising them for combined infantry/armour training?

Mind you as armour attracts a lot of focus and then fire, both anti-tank and light arms, I don't know how close to the armour I'd want to be! Still if it's in an advance to contact but not yet under fire then handy to follow in the ruts of the tracks if they had compressed soft and muddy fields.

In the early war phases Fj were trained to drive enemy vehicles and steam trains!!, maybe this is a combined training to familiarise the fj with the Brit armour?

Interesting combination of uniforms, most are wearing the Luft version of the off white HBT drill uniform, some with Luft blue trousers and jack boots. One is wearing both blue HBT drill trousers and jacket and another with blue HBT jacket and wool trousers. Also note that one of the officers is Heer not Luft.

i think the left officer is a luftwaffe one, You can make out the swept eagles on his cap and tunic, also note his collar insignia. He is also wearing a fliegerbluse , you can tell by the pockets.

they are wearing their HBT over their jackets. look at the two guys left of the Luftwaffe officer and the guy in the darkest HBT jacket. their Luftwaffe Fliegerbluse is comming out under the HBT.
