Lw canteen and cup colours

Post by Pietje »

what colours did the canteen cover have and what was the colour of the cup .

I come across sellers with blue canteen covers and blue and black cup colours...
Did the LW use blue canteen covers and were there any black coloured cup's used or are thes colours used after 1945?

DO NOT USE BLUE COVERED WATER BOTTLES, WRON, WRONG, WRONG!!

Possible pre war manufactured ones yes - war time issue - No, go for the standard brown covered waterbottle, early - mid wat metal cup with folding handles - mid - late war round bakerlite cup.

the blue waterbottle covers & cups were post war police. As Paul says, use a brown cover with either a metal or a bakelite cup.

Hello,
some dark blue canteen covers and blue cups were used pre-war for the paramilitary Luftsportbund, but this was very quickly changed to a standard canteen when the Luftwaffe was created, so only very few of these blue canteens will have seen service. Too few to carry them around at events, that is.

best regards,
Volker
