In some period pics, some of the jackets are quite tight. And were they just to small or should they be like that?

A snug fit was customery, and maintainable as opposed to our present day thoughts about clothing. Most throughout the war you see lean bodies on soldiers due to the era mindset, food patterns, stress and deprevation. Fliegerblouses should fit close to the body with limited room in the armpits
