M43 repro LW caps, what and where to choose ?

Post by Alter »

Hi guys, so after a long time outside the hobby i started to make a quality kitlist for my late war FJ impression. Ive "hit the wall" in a few occasion, due to my limited knowledge on certain parts of the gear. most notably the LW field caps.

There are so many to choose from, mostly chinese stuff, but also quality like ATF.

Unfortunately the US shops for some reason either dont ship into my coutnry (inside EU, dont ask) or their shipping prices are very high.

So which retailer and cap (preferably from a shop inside Europe) do you prefer ?

Whats your opinion on this one ?

Try GD43 in the US, great head wear made to order at reasonable prices.

The one illustrated is an Erel (Robert Lubstein) made in Germany. I have a two-button version of this and think the material is a little thin. The Extra-Klasse products from James Brown made by Michael Janke are much better but significantly more expensive. You could also try Luftwaffe Supplies (Christian De'Bono) who do a good replica using thick good quality wool.
