i reckon they would make the boot using smoth leather, same leather they use for the type 2 but just a different level of construction.

I heard a while back by a couple of dealers that buy off sturm that they were going to make sidelacers.

No groove around the heel, also don't like the look of the sole either, too chunky.

Paul, 1st model side lace boots had no groove as they had rubber soles. The groove was added when the rubber was substituted with leather to facilitate the wearing of the rubber overshoes inside the aircraft as it was very slippery.
IMO the boots are fine, perhaps if a tiny bit was taken off the wooden part of the sole? It seems a bit high to me BUT it can be because of the color difference.

Look at this original and note how worn the rubber part of the sole is, maybe the ones from JOKY are not that chunky?
What do others think?

Nice original photos, I'd reserve judgement on the soles until I can see them better.

Zib Militaria has some side lacing boots for 100 Euros. These look a lot like the SoF ones, but are a fair bit cheaper.

they are different , they arent the same as SMW/SOF side lacing boots , the type of leather used and the sole is the main give away. Sole is wrong , looks like the same used on dutch para boots, but i wouldnt rule them out because of that. The look to be tighter around the ankle and the lower shin also

...Sturm Side Lace boots will be available from week 22 on! Unfortunately so far no one has published pictures...Price wise they are in the same region as the 2nd pattern boots! Looking forward to seeing them since the currently available ones can only be worn by people wit the elephant foot syndrome...

The ones from ZIP look ok on the upper side but the sole is not quite what I would like to see!

cheers
