An Oldie but goodie!

Eastern Front 2 by Talonsoft is an excellent turn-based tactical game with realistic models/icons and an eye for the capabilities of the units they depict. The only possible minus is the hex terrain, but then again it does make it easier planning your next move. Just watch out for those T-34s!

That would not surprise me at all. I keep going back to it when I get tired of fancy graphics, a sign of a good game!

i did enjoy panzer generals untill it didnt run on vista.

I like those two, although I wasn't so keen on the limiting of units they introduced on the '3D' games(3 & 4). Panzer general 2 let you flood the field with units. I expect it was a memory issue or something like that.
