I, and I think most of us, would like Patrick to come to this forum
Grüß Gott Bergkameraden und "Name Droppers!"

And it's "KISER" not "KISSER"

I didn't know this forum existed until today! Glad I found it. It's great to be in the company of other Bergkameraden.

As to packing a rucksack, as Franz has mentioned and as my experience also, there isn't anything that I have come across that mentions any specific placement of items into the rucksack. In interviews that I have had with Gebirgsjäger veterans, they have told me that there was no specific way of packing the rucksack. Some veterans said that they had the color-coded stuff sacks...others didn't...but it was up to them to pack. I do have a US Army training film that shows how to pack a rucksack.

I'll work up a little tutorial on packing rucksack based on what I've seen, as well as my thoughts and experiences.

Patrick pls do ;) I mean, if you would be so kind to do it... I personally need it badly as my rucksack always seem to be too small and out of shape...

zombie rucksack :P

Just reading 'mountain & arctic warfare from alexander to afghanistan' by barry gregory (1989 vintage)thought some may find it interesting?
in one section it has the following on GJ rucksack contents :-

ground sheet (zeltbahn I guess)
blanket
windcheater
another shirt
spare pants (underwear not trousers! ) and socks
balaclava caps
waist belt (like a trouser belt? or lower back warmer? )
gloves
mess tin and cutlery
1KG of bread
large can of meat
1 tin of lard.

it also gives weights for the total in the rucksacks 22kg but it could take 75kgs....
Vorwärts und aufwärts!
