Post by Gerry_06 »

Hi
Did das reich wear Italian camo?
Could all ranks wear a tunic made out of
Italian camo or was it just NCOs and officers ?
Thanks

Italian camo fabric only found its way into 1st and 12th SS, due to stocks 'liberated' when 1st SS served in Italy. Many 1st SS personnel formed the cadre around which the 12th was formed...

I believe some Hermann Goering personnel (also served in Italy) also had custom tailored garments of Italian camo, but open to correction on that!

Not authentic for Das Reich anyway...

There was one (1) company in FJR1 that was authorized Flieger Bluses made out of Italian cammo, but I have a photo of a Fallschirmjäger friend being awarded the tank destruction stripe at Casino and he is wearing an Italian camo 4 pocket tunik.
