I talked to him before, seems to make good stuff, but it's a time issue for when you'll get it, and if you don't like what he did, tough...I'm tempted for a different cap, but at the same time still keeping my eyes open if you know what I mean.

I know it, used to have one. They age up nicely, I'd keep it and age it yourself.

But if you're set on a new one, what size and how much? I regret selling mine

Haven't heard from him in quite a bit...if he was around still and selling, he would have seen this by now and contacted you via PM.

How about a Janke cap from James Brown http://www.extraklasse.co.uk
WSS crusher cap £160 +pp(no import duty and vat as you would have to pay on goods from USA to UK)made in Germany.
As for coloured piping, the order allowing this only existed for about three months when RF Himmler forbade it.Yes they did exist but they were rare,it is more correct to wear a white piped cap no matter which branch of the service you were in(as Himmler stated this was the original colour for the SS).John

SOF do the crusher with the plain leather peak, they are quite good after reshaping
them, you just need to change the insignia to better quality ones, these are in white
piping only but as John says the coloured piping was phased out, after 1942 as far as
i know then all piping on caps were white, although some coloured piped caps were worn
"unofficially",.... i did mention this fact on here a couple of years ago on a similar thread
but people were unconvinced lol

Janke for me too. Yes they are expensive but they are great caps.
And the piping became white for all branches as john has said after about 3 months of the war. So Christmas/new year 1939 into 1940 not 1942
