Janke Gear
Janke Gear
I hear/read of people refering to "Janke" made repros...is there a website for them?
No Herr Michael Janke is a German guy who for years has produced the standerd that others have reached. He is expensive (and I MEAN expensive) and the only person I know who stocks his products is James Brown (OOOOOW! AH FEEEL GOOD -No Not him) of Erste Klasse Militaria....
Herr Underwoods stuff is of comparable quality and he is cheaper than Janke.....

Before Uncle Dickie had his high quality replicas, the only options were import form the US (and some of the stuff there was hit and miss at the time - also being 6000 miles away made complaining and returning incorrect goods expensive), Swedish/ex-film prop or Janke. I bought my first Janke uniform in 1997 and it burned a hole in my wallet to the tune of about £650 for cap, tunic and trousers. Insignia etc. was extra.
I still think the Janke tunics (particularly the M36 tunic) are still exceptional quality - they were the first to get the chest darts right and the cuff length correct (up until then, most repro tunics were cut a bit like a modern jacket). It did take me a while to pluck up the courage to go running through the woods in a £650 suit though...
