M40 restoration

Post by Mauser »

Hi, guys!

I recently got this M40 helmet from a local motorbike club really cheap. It seams it's a M40 with a crappy liner, but the shell itself looks ok. As I plan to repaint it ,change the liner and chinstrap, what would you sugjest, should I entirely strip the paint, or just paint over?

Thanks!

Here are a few pics

I would definitely strip it first as a matt paint over the top is going to scratch off really easily. Get it to bare metal then prime etc in the usual way, much more durable!

Thanks for the answer, I'll try to strip it and repaint it.
