Dirndls
Hello,
My missus and the rest of Lehr's helferinne have acquired their own dirndl dresses but need to know what foot wear would be best to wear with them. Any ideas?

Re: Dirndls
I'm sure there are many different ones that would be suitable, but for mine I wear a simple black lace up period looking shoe with a bit of a heel and that seems to work fine.. I've also seen girls wear a kind of dance or tap looking shoe, like the Mary Janes (that's what we call them over here) with the strap that comes over the top. Anyone else care to chime in?Fritz bayerlein wrote:Hello,

Hope that's helpful.

Hello
normally they have worn black leather "Trachtenschuhe" for females or ankleboots (they look like british Navy ankle boots).
Regards
Joe
PS: Just a question from me, why do all women want to wear Dirndls at the reanacting? Germany is bigger than Bavaria and we have some more authentic "Trachten" outfits for women rather than a Dirndl!
LOL we don't all wear them exclusively... for instance, I have a Signals uniform, a DRK uniform AND a dirndl. In addition they're pretty!

Re: Dirndls
Indeed! And a great photo as well, thanks for sharing. I've been doing this for 10+ years, so dirndls are not the only civilian dresses I have and I didn't mean to imply that others weren't just as pretty. Again, thanks for sharing such a lovely photo!

1. dirndl are easy to get and not to expensive
2.in the 40s was it very fashinable to wear dirndl, if you look in fashion magazins or cataloges you will see it was very big, also eva braun was often seen in dirndl this set a trent as well.
so you see it nearly the same like today
everybody is trying to coby VIPs

Thanks for your help.
Our ladies also have other looks, ie late war helferin, 40s civilian, and are in the process of getting their nurses uniforms.
You know what women are like, they can never have too many changes of clothes

Funny thing, I actually have more pairs of re-enacting shoes than regular ones...I have to buy them when I find them because they are so difficult to find for my tiny feet!!
