Ooops... they did it again... Panzer IV unearthed in Poland

Post by mario33 »

PzKpfw IV ausf. G or J has just been digged out. Its disintegrated into parts but believed to be 90% complete. Same people as in case of StuG are involved so I believe we will see it at least cleaned soon.

Mixed feelings. Interesting find, but without preservation and care, it will rot away and be gone forever. What good the find when left to that sort of fate?

No worries ;) they're going to clean it and restore it, at least to some degree... Nobody's leaving it to rot away for sure...

I honestly hope they do, in recent years theirs been to many Panzers etc dug up only to be left languishing in some scrap yard open to the elements and robbed blind. :|

These kinds of 'finds' are amazing.

What ever happened to that Stug with the wide tracks -the one that was found upside down in a bog? Even it's paint job had been remarkably preserved. What ever became of it?

I keep hoping to open the doors of some musty barn and find an intact kettenkrad that the farmer would rather be rid of. I would lavish love on it like it was my own child... I would settle for a period Lantz bulldog in a pinch.
