Stug Engine lift

We here is some news for those wishing to attend the stug training the engine has been removed and will be rebuilt over the winter . The training will return next year bigger and better with more toys :wink: for you to play with

rear decks removed you can see cooling pipe work and exhuast pipes

every thing removed lift starts

and then it it was gone can any one guess what the pipe work is that is left on the floor ?

Air circulation tubes to cool / release fumes from the brakes on either side of the hull.

Very good answer but wrong its to do with cold starting

Pipes from an electrical/paraffin(?) preheater? To warm the coolant for easier starting?

Not jealous of you working on a StuG like that at all, no...

Surprised by how small the engine/plant is when seen ready for removal. Looks a very easy piece to work on though. Please keep us posted with it's overhaul/service progress.

David your spot on we have information on two types one like you said the other is a transfer system ie they get one engine running to the correct engine temp then the warm coolant is transfered to a cold engine .

Nelz I will be back next weekend and will take some snaps

Well for those that have some interest in this topic more work was done on the Maybach this weekend . Parks have been removed and are being refurbished replaced with NOS (New old stock)
Yep thats right NOS there is a Huge store near Tampere that has some items

Removed engine with oil being drained out not starter with starting shaft running to the rear oil cooler has been removed .you can see the two fuel pumps and covers to the 3 oil pumps

Starter and shaft this shaft links to the starter crank at the rear of the Stug ,starting by the shaft is the correct way of starting the stug . You can see the oil tank at the top of the picture the red cap for the tank also holds the dip stick

Engine is stripped and the bottom end is back together just waiting on new Head Gaskets they have to be made and its not cheap .
