I haven't seen the pics of the above pea coats, could you provide a link, please?

It may be almost impossible to actually tell from a photograph, but one of our members had a late NVA one. It was made of a very shiny, man-made material and was almost a royal blue, instead of a navy blue, in colour. Later ones tend not to have the light blue collar patches, although some early ones have had them removed as well.

Another thing to be aware of with NVA jackets is that most are very small (to fit teenagers) as well. So please be careful of the measurements and sizes.

It looks lighter, however, that could be lighting, because the hat appears to be the same color.

Well, on the evidence presented before me in the pic it looks like one of the woollen type ones as opposed to one of the man-made fibre types. The epaulettes wouldn't be right but they can be removed and it's good that it has the light blue collar patches already attached.

For your info, the original KM patches were 8 x 4 cm's, but the NVA ones were 6 x 4 cms, same as the W-SS ones.

The striped shirts and hat are incorrect though, for your info. The KM never had striped shirts issued and the hat in the pic is obviously a post-war NVA hat due to its rather large rounded 'boat' shape.

Or you can do Kriegsmarine Infantry? In 1945 they had at least 3 Marine Infantry divisions if i'm right. I guess the uniform would look like costal artillery?

Recieved the jacket, it looks fantastic.

Now, are the caps carried by Epic Militaria correct?

No, as I've said, either Fundoms (Canada) or Dishmop (UK Ebay) are the most appropriate.

Epic's are modern day Bundy ones and the wrong shape.

Thanks Schafer, you've been great.

I already ordered from Epic, and a hat is in the order. It was cheap so I'm not really worried about it.

I'll order a cap from Fundom's and get a picture so you can see the results.

I have a Fundom's one in my collection.

You can buy sleeve ranks from here, but the trade patches can be purchased from either Epic, or originals on US ebay:

I see Kevin beat me to it ;)

I agree that a visit to the U-Boat Society forum is worthwhile - even though UK based, there is discussion of various vendors and experiences with them.

Just out of curiosity:

Image

Could this man be an Kriegsmarine coastal artillery man or etc.? He seems to wear Wehrmacht uniform and cap, but Kriegsmarine anchor buttons. And, if he is a Kriegsmarine personel, would his insignia (chest eagle, cap eagle, chevrons?) be yellow, like in this photos cap:

Image

And last, where could I find cap eagle in that color?

To answer your questions, the insignia would indeed be coloured gold on a field grey background for Coastal Artillery personnel. They can be purchased from Epic Militaria in the UK.

The cockade appears to be the type that should be on a navy blue Bordmutze due to it having a navy blue background. It is also positioned 'squarely' whereas it should be sewn on positioned in a diamond shape.

You can find chevrons and that shaped cap eagle on Epic? I only found chest and other type of cap eagle from there: http://www.epicmilitaria.com/section.ph ... e-insignia

I will send them email asking if they have any other insignias than those that show on their website.

Thanks for the answers!

I wasn't aware you were enquiring about the exact insignia in the photo, I thought you meant Coastal Artillery insignia in general. You will have to enquire with Julian. I believe Richard Underwood also supplies limited Coastal Artillery insignia as well.

The insignia in the colour photos appears to me to be an improvisation due to the navy blue background cockade being affixed. I have colour photos in my John Angolia book 'Kriegsmarine uniform and traditions' volume three. On pages 62 & 63 they definitely have field grey backgrounds to them.
