Rifle drill - anyone help?
Rifle drill - anyone help?
Looking for filmed images of K98 rifle drill. Parades rather than individual. Prefer LAH but settle with any W-SS or WH at a push. Have tried YOUTUBE but to no avail. Anyone help?

What kind of rifle drill, the veteran who taught us(SBG)was only trained in basic drill eg gewehr umhangen, this was in 1942,they did not learn to present arms or parade march.
If it is 'present arms' you wish to know,I do'nt have it on film but I have got a set of pictures in an original Luftwaffe manual I could copy.

Thanks for that but I'm after archive footage, possibly from ground arms up to the present. I'm familiar with the moves but want to see the action and speed (timing) on how the moves were executed.

OK.Yes I think there is original footage, can't remember where I've seen it,but its done very fast, especially if its LSSAH every thing was done very 'snapley'.

The rifle drill runs the same from 40's to modern. But the timings are not the same.
from seing the drill performed over the years , the modern drill team uses a simple counting method with each individual movement lasts for about 1.4 seconds.
From seing various films over the years, the '40s' drill seems to be alot more fluid in the means of speed. Its faster, sometimes seen going from ground arms to shoulder in one fluid step.

Ok this can be a really abigues subject. Just because some one has seen a unit or landser turn one way or move quickly with the weapon in drill he thinks its right. its not the case at all as there are many moves and different timmings. Look at the british army, the Guards drill is different to the Infantry and the Light Infantry is completely differnt to both the RAF and Navy have their ways of drilling too. Who is right and who is wrong? As a former infantry drill insructor they are all right!
the same goes for the Germans both modern and WWII. but if you want to see text book moves you can find them on youtube type in 'Wache batallion' or if you want to see my unit type in 'der furhrer Rgt'. all the moves are as per the Ribert the wache battalion is the same now as it was 60 yrs ago using the same weapons. and if you look at the Infantry ribert you can see the moves are the same. ok on some occassions they twerl the weapon but only on displays.
hope i've helped
