DAK Feldwebel Insignia

Hi,
could someone answer my question: did the NCO's wear the "tresse" all arround the collar on the DAK tunic? Was it only in the front part? Brown, I asume?

Greetings Gebirg 100.
The "Tropical-tresse" was an off brown colour for all service branches
and officially was worn all round the collar but i have seen pics where
the tresse is just worn on the front part of the collar on Tropical Uniforms.
Some Lufty pics especially Falshy ones have been known to wear the tresse
just around the bottom part of the collar insignia (edge of front collar points).
I suppose this may be due to the fact the Tropical uniform was constantly
being washed, even some insignia such as breast eagles etc were pinned on
temporarilly so they could be easily removed on wash-day!

Hola Albert,

That's true!! Tresse around all the collar was what the ordinance says but I've seen pictures (mostly from Tunissia campaign) that shows NCO's with jacket without tresse!!! And I've seen Lufthwaffe NCO with jackets with tresse just around the bottom part of the collar insignia, as Peiper says, or only with this and without collar rank insignia and without tresse an without collar rank insignia as well!!
