Bonesack eagles??

Post by Peiper »

Servus kameraden :D

Here's a query for all you Paras.??

Whats the type and colour eagles to be worn on the old Knockensacks??
This is for the different types (type 1, 2 and 3), i would have thought the
eagle with dark-green background ?? but these apparantly were worn by
LW Ground troops, also would it be blue background type for the early green
bonesacks, which i would presume it would ??

The repro dealers are terming their ground troop eagles they are selling as Fallschirm
types this i think is where the confusion lies?, unless they wore a lighter-green type,
your thoughts please gentlemen, iam putting together some different FJ period load-outs
together and want to get it right so thought i would ask the experts! lol

Cheers, Pipes

Yes , Dark Green backed eagles were used early on . But you will see them used up untill the end. You will also see blue backed eagles , dark gray/beige eagles and splinter backed eagles.

The real light green eagles that get sold , i believe are tosh.

When i get home, and i have time, ill post some eagles i have spotted on the net that i have saved over time.

There's many variations of eagle and backing color styles.
Usually:
For early Gruenmelliert (green) smocks the norm is eagles with the same backing color.
For splinter smocks (III type) go with splinter or green backed.
In Sumfmuster (Tan & Water) smocks go for green.

If you are a member in WAF there's an excellent thread in the FJ forum named "Smock Eagles".
Check it out.
