I've just got my first sample of Gibergs smock and over trousers. Very nice quailty and colour. A lot like HK Kieths used to be.
However the strap on the back is too short to go under the crotch and fasten at the fornt. THe smock itself fits perfectly over my 42" tunic. Can someone measure the strap on one of thier smocks and let me know the length.
I'll be taking some pics once the weather improves and I can take them in natural light.
Many Thanks
Chris

Chris, I will try to measure that at home (I have Keith's copy) and will let you know. Maybe someone having an original may also help.

Re: Gibergs smock
Servus Chris,
I have seen many original Gebirgsjäger Windblusen with the strap cut off. On one of my originals, the strap is about 16 inches / 41 cm with 4 button holes.
Is the material on this new repro a single layer with white on one side and tan on the other, or is it a layer of white material sewn to a layer of tan material? And what kind of buckles are they using for the wrist straps? Are the Windhose baggy enough to put on without taking off your boots?

Re: Gibergs smock
Hi Patrick. The smock does appear to be made up of two layers sewn together. I will take pics of the buckles at the wrist when the weather improves and I can get outside. Only like taking pictures in natural light to get the colours right.
As for the trousers they do appear like they will be wide enough to take off over your boots. I guess I will only find this out when I try them on with a pair of Jakubs Gibergs boots.

I've just realised it won't really matter how big originals were. If we are all taller than our 40's counterparts the strap needs to be long enough to fasten on someone nearly six foot. Patrick have you got any shots of the back of original smocks with the strap buttoned upright?
