OK now we are in 2013 Mill Odd (august bank holliday) anyone interested in Kavallerie for this show, im talking with Chris about the area behind the usual Luftwaffe Society location. As all should know it butts up the the traders hall. its two sections, the wired enclosure with the other half open. The idea would be living history in this parts with the hired ponies in the enclosure. First im not trying to take anyone away from their unit, if anyone wants a walk in and out say over a couple of hours that would do. The arena is for riding grooming etc. Im hoping that apart from Daniel SS Florian Geyer, others from this unit will come over as they know that they don't have to bring their own animals. Possibility of taking part in the battle, (not for me as my riding experience probably wouldn't be good enough). im in touch with the pony hirers and will be going down to see and discuss the possibilities hopefully next month (Wales). Im not really bothered if the uniform is correct, late war anything goes and that therefore opens it up to ALL.

Make sure your PLI covers you to use horses.
Most aimed at WW2 re-enactors does not. I think you can add it on?

So where would be the best place to get leather reeinforced breeches? I know who makes excellent breeches that fit well...but wont make the reeinfoced version...so the question is, is there someone willing to add to the breeches that does a good job or is there someone who makes them from scratch?

I'd be interested at some point in the future, I have 3 horse drawn German carts all needing restoration unfortunately they would make a great backdrop to the display!

looks like the Kavallerie is on hold at the moment for detling, unless another stables can provide the necessary animals. I understand that the stables supplying detling is in financial difficulties, sad really another good business failing due to the economic times. i could rant on, but this forum is not about politics.

Arthur - Richard Underwood will do you a fine pair of breeches with leather reinforcement.

Update on the stables that supplied the animals for re enactment, the discussion appears to be that rising costs to re enactment only are the problem. The stables is and continues to be a riding school and for pony trekking. I'm trying to find another stables that may be able to help hopefully, been given details of one which does ECW, so i'll try the personal; approach.
