crawler tractors
There's a photo I've seen that shows such a (smallish) tracked tractor being used by German troops in a forestry logging capacity, it looks like a cross between a cletrac and ransome in size, I've tried looking for german manufacturers of that type from pre ww2/ww2 but no joy.
What manufacturer would the german forces have used? or would they have utilised native companies depending on there location?

Re: crawler tractors
Sounds interesting - I've seen a fair few round here at the retro farming shows - no idea of the price though

Re: crawler tractors
I think the tractor in the wartime photo is possibly a Lanz or Fiat Raupenschlepper. Note the steering levers vs steering wheel.
Here's a 1964 Lanz.

Re: crawler tractors
That '64 Lanz looks great! Just need to throw some Panzer Grey on it and get rid of the roof!

Here's a nice link to a restoration of a 1936 Lanz tractor:

Pretty amazing those Lanz crawlers ran with a giant two-stroke engine!Heeresbergführer wrote:Here's a nice link to a restoration of a 1936 Lanz tractor:

I was trying to match up the sprocket configuration of the image from the OP. This 58 Case 310 looks like it has a very similar setup. Note the 7-spoke drive sprocket compared to the wartime photo. Possibly the one shown in the period photo is a pre-war import? I haven't found anythign with a louvered engine compartment yet. The 58 Case also doesn't have the same extended nose
