When cotton has run out, and could not be retrieved from the east, linen was the material that was solely used for the production of summer HBT uniforms, especially in 1944. This was the case with some HBT uniforms issued in continental Europe to Luftwaffe personnel.
This is exactly my ongoing project at the moment. Taken from original samples, these HBT uniforms are now a reality. We will be making a run of these. We only have secured fabric for 15 sets, and half have already been booked over the weekend. All will be made to fit the wearer, thus sizes are guaranteed.
Now think about it ... that D-day impression for next year, on a hot summer day in June, feeling relieved for not having to wear the thick woollen Fliegerbluse?

Re: Luftwaffe Green HBT Uniforms
Could you post a side-by-side comparison of the LW HBT versus the Heer HBT tunics? Would be interesting for those of us not familiar with the fine nuances.

Re: Luftwaffe Green HBT Uniforms
Sure. here's the link to the Luftwaffe HBT uniform.
And this is the link to the Heer M40 Tropical Uniform.
This will give you an idea of the difference between the two patterns. Heer HBT uniforms are made from the same patterns and M42 and M43 are also possible. But that's another subject in itself.
You can easily notice the scalloped flaps, pleated pockets, button configuration (Heer is 5 button, Luftwaffe is 6 button) and also the difference in the cuffs.
Hope this helps
